Children

We offer programs throughout the year that help reinforce every child’s Christian faith.

Memorial Church - Children
Sunday Morning Christian Education
Sunday --- 9:15 a.m.

On Sunday morning, beginning at 9:15, Christian Education for children, ages 3 years through 5th grade, meet in the Art Room.  The Children are currently using “Whirl” curriculum.  For our Youth, ages 6th grade through 12th grade, we meet in the Youth Director’s office.  The Youth are currently learning lessons from the Common Lectionary.

Kids Night Out!
1st and 3rd Wednesday --- 5:30-7:00 pm

On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 5:30-7:00, we enjoy new friendships while learning about our relationship with God.  We also spend time singing, making crafts and, of course, enjoying a snack.  The children meet in the Art Room.  We invite all children and youth, from age 3 through 12th grade, for an evening of faith, fun and fellowship!  Bring a friend!

Kirkmont Camp
Summer

Summer camp at Kirkmont Center in Zanesfield, Ohio, is yet another way to reinforce Christian Education for our children in a fun new environment.  We have information about the various camps for different age groups and interest, including Music, Art, Sports, Youth leadership, and even intergenerational camp.

Rally Day
September
Rally Day

In September we welcome a “New Year” of Christian Education with families sharing a carry-in picnic meal after church on Sunday. To raise money for summer camp, we hold a raffle and enjoy a walk/bike-a-thon around the church parking lot.  The entire congregation, whether walking, riding or just cheering on the participants, have lots of fun!!

Vacation Bible School
June

At the beginning of June each year, we kick off summer break with VBS.  We provide a fun and spiritual environment for all children, 4-years though completing 5th grade.  We learn about God’s love through crafts, singing, story-telling and outside fun.   We always have so much FUN!

Christmas Activities

Hanging of the Greens

We kick off the Advent season with our annual “Hanging of the Greens” during which we share a meal and decorate the Church for the Christmas season.  Our whole congregation joins together to make the church so beautiful!  The children are responsible for decorating the Teddy Bear tree in the Fellowship Hall.  We also make crafts for the children to take home.

Christmas Program

Each year the Children and the Youth put on a Christmas Program for the congregation.  They either present a play that conveys the true meaning of Christmas or they perform a concert that always puts everyone in the holiday spirit.  Please check the church calendar and join us for this special event.

Holy Week
Palm Sunday --- Easter Sunday

The children celebrate Palm Sunday by waving palm branches as they enter the Sanctuary while joining the congregation in singing beautiful hymns of praise. Maundy Thursday is an evening service and is a time for communion and foot-washing for our families to commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper.  We observe the stillness of Good Friday with a Tenebrae family service.  This is a service of candlelight to prepare us for the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection in three days. Easter Sunday begins with a Sunrise Service followed by a light breakfast.  We enjoy Intergenerational Christian Education and then, weather permitting, we have an Easter Egg Hunt for the children on the front lawn of the church.  After the Easter Egg Hunt, we move to the sanctuary for our traditional Easter Celebration.
